Marvin Spicer "Pap"  Hale Sr.
Marvin "Pap" Spicer Hale, Sr. passed away unexpectedly at his home on September 3, 2015 in Swanton, MD at the age of 89.
Marvin was born on May 25, 1926 in Whitehouse, MD to Joshua “Mitch” and Elsie Hale.
Marvin served his country honorably in the US Army from 1945-1947.
Marvin worked many years at Snyder’s Body Inc, Hampstead. Over a 10 year period, the couple welcomed 7 children into their home. His children remember him as a hardworking dad. He was a witty individual who loved the outdoors and especially camping at Deep Creek State Park. He was a member of the American Legion Post 200, Hampstead.
Marvin is survived by his wife, Betty Wilhelm Hale; children: Cindy L. Miller, Sharon D. (Richard) Bilenki, Jean Hale Trawinski, Judy A. (Robyn) Orndorf, Marvin S. Hale, Jr., Terry E. Hale, Sr.; siblings: Laura “Irene” Krebs, William Roland Hale, Joshua Everett Hale, John Hale, Esther Hale; 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Randy L. Hale; brothers: Charles Mitchell Hale, Roy Hale, Sidney Carroll Hale, and Leon Hale; sisters: Jeanette Millender, and Carrie Wagner; and 2 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 9th from 10am-12pm followed by a celebration of life at 12pm at Eline Funeral Home in Hampstead, MD. Burial will take place at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg, MD. Reverend Jennifer Kokowski will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Marvin’s life.
