Obituary for Michael Karl ""Maddog"" Sater

Michael Karl ""Maddog""  Sater
Michael Karl Sater (Maddog), age 65 of Hampstead, died Saturday, July 11, 2015 at York Trauma Center surrounded by his family and friends. Born September 29, 1949 in Baltimore City, Maryland, he was the son of the late Harold and Margaret Sater.

He was the husband of Barbara Rill Sater, his wife of 44 years.

Mike served in the Army and was stationed in Viet Nam from 1968 to 1969. He retired from General Motors in 2005 with 33 years of service. He was currently serving as the Adjutant for the Disabled American Veterans Department of Maryland and was a past State Commander.

Mike was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 22, VFW Post 467, American Legion Post 200, Purple Heart Chapter 577, Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary Unit 22, National Order of the Trench Rats, Westminster Moose, Carroll County Toastmasters, Wesley United Methodist Church and Maryland ABATE Motorcycles. He served on many local and national committees. He was passionate about helping veterans receive their benefits and served many veterans in the State of Maryland and surrounding states. He was named Veteran of the Year in 2014. Mike loved riding his Harley motorcycle and traveling to many states and Canada with his wife and friends. He especially enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren.

Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters Holly Sater and husband Joshua Insley of Timonium, MD and Heather Sater of Towson, MD, two grandchildren Connor and Caitlin Insley, brother Harold Sater and wife Beverly of Shreveport, LA and brother Darwin Sater and wife Patty of Hampstead, MD. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive visitors at Eline Funeral Home, 934 S. Main Street, Hampstead on Tuesday from 3-5:00 and 7-9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Eline Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Wesley United Methodist Church Cemetery, Hampstead.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, 101 N. Gay Street, Baltimore, MD 21202.
