Bvt. Lt. Col Eugene Laurence Mersinger,83, of Westminster

Bvt. Lt. Col Eugene Laurence Mersinger, 83, of Westminster formally of Glyndon died Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Carroll Lutheran Village.
Born September 21, 1929, in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of the late Aloysius Rudolph Mersinger and Elizabeth Blair Mersinger. He was the husband of Joan Laverne Hoffman Mersinger whom he married on September 11, 1948.
Mr. Mersinger grew up in Walbrook in Baltimore City, he graduated from Loyola Blakefield High School and attended Loyola University. In his earlier years, he worked for the Steamfitters Union, Honeywell, and Robertshaw until opening Chesapeake Controls and serving as its president. Mr. Mersinger raised his family in Glyndon and coached Little League baseball and football in Reisterstown. He was an avid golfer and traveler and was proud to complete a lifetime quest of playing golf in all 50 States in 2008. He was an avid fan of the Chorus of the Chesapeake and sang in a barbershop group.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his sons, Duston Mersinger of Hampstead, MD, Mark Mersinger of Colorado and Jon Mersinger of Westminster, a daughter Christine Supik of Cockeysville, brother Joseph Mersinger, Grandchildren Sarah Rhodes, Blair, Scott,David and Nicholas Mersinger. Uncle of Roberta and her husband Randolph Pryor. Great uncle of John McChuten. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. Mersinger was predeceased by son, David Mersinger, and his brothers Bud and Frank and sisters, Betty, Mary, Dot and Roberta.
Friends may call at the Eline Funeral Home 11824 Reisterstown Road, Reisterstown on Sunday 3-5 & 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Church, Glyndon on Monday at 12:00 Noon.
