John, a man of mystery

I remember the first day that John came into IAD to train. He had on camo shorts and a t-shirt, calf high socks and hiking boots. I thought, this is an interesting man! Now at that time, John did need to loose a little weight and get into shape...so he at times would have the "plumber" pants. On the first day...to my surprise...we had the plumber pants. Being a Southern Belle...I adverted my eyes. But over time, I just quietly said...John, pull your pants up! I remember one time saying to him, pull your pants up...you are going to get the ladies around the gym excited! He chuckled! And then there was this other instance he was exercising on a machine where he had to lay on his stomach...yes, "plumber pants" were there. I said, John the moon is out! And I took a handtowel and lay it over his backside to cover the moon. He laughed so hard he had to catch his breath. John also is a very smart man. It is amazing the conversations we would have and the array of topics. Some of them consisted of guns, his radio, government (oh my...don't get him started ), the military, his love for his dogs, and his wonderful family which he loved. A man whose wife had passed many years ago, but still wore his wedding band and continued to have true love for her. And the love for his daughter Becky....he only wants her to be happy, healthy and have a good life. He would always light up when he spoke of Becky. So John, now that you are in Heaven, having a second honeymoon with your lovely wife....you can now share your wonderful stories with others...and one day I will be able to hear them once again. I have been blessed to have known you, and thank you for being a part of my life. Diane Miles
