Obituary for Jerry Dean Jackson

Jerry Dean Jackson
Jerry Dean Jackson
Oct 21, 1941 – Mar 30, 2019

Jerry Dean Jackson, of Owings Mills, beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on March 30, 2019. He left this life just as he lived it, on his own terms. Jerry spent his final days showing us that his signature strength, humor, and love for his family were still as vibrant as ever.

Jerry’s life touched so many, and he compressed so much living into his 77 years. He was the father figure and support system for many who needed a friendly hand on their shoulder as they found their way. He was a person who lit up the room with his infectious smile and caused us all to laugh along with him as he regaled us with jokes only he could deliver. Jerry was one of the hardest workers most have ever met. He was the man who could be called on at any time, day or night, for anything. If you were lucky enough to count him as family or friend, you knew you had someone in your life who would drop everything to be there.

In his second act, as a devoted grandfather, Jerry weaved his way into the fabric of the lives of his adored grandchildren. His grandchildren grew up knowing their biggest fan, “Pop Pop” or “Pops,” was always cheering for them. They knew, like his family and friends, that if they simply asked, their grandfather would do anything to help. His kind, happy and fun-loving memory will live on forever in their hearts.

Jerry is survived by his daughters, Rhonda Davis and husband Larry Davis, Deena Callahan and husband Chris Schnell, his grandchildren, Tyler, Hunter, Paige, Kieran, Cierra, Eddie, Catie, and his cherished siblings, Larry Jackson, Mark Jackson, Janice Gittere, Berdell Ayres and Beverly Vaeth. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Stanley Jackson.

Friends are invited to gather at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 22, 2019 at Eline Funeral Home in Finksburg, where a memorial service will follow beginning at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial contributions be made to America’s VetDogs, 371 East Jericho Turnpike, Smithtown, NY 11787; www.vetdogs.org; (866) VETDOGS.
