My favorite memories from Maryvale were her painting classes in the Castle. These were not group gatherings; Mrs. Hazard encouraged individual projects with subjects chosen by the student. Her gentle demeanor and essential kindness helped her students develop at their own pace. Mrs. Hazard was an artist from a family of artists and she had an abiding interest in Polish heritage.
