Merrill P.  Thomas Sr.
Merrill P. Thomas, Sr., 87, of Upperco, died Saturday June 6, 2015 at Golden Living Center in Westminster.

Born May 23, 1928 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Albert E. Thomas, Sr. and Maude Kite Thomas. He was the former husband of the late Betty Thomas Fisher.

He was a farmer and owner of Thomas All Weather Roofing Company. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Arcadia. He had been a member of Ventner Yacht Club. He enjoyed boating, camping, farming and gardening.

Surviving are sons, Merrill P. Thomas, Jr. of Westminster and Mark A. Thomas, Sr. of Littlestown, Pa.; daughters, Debbie A. Burke of Abingdon and Darlene M. Gemmill of York Springs, Pa.; 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a son, John Edward "Jett" Thomas.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Eline Funeral Home, 934 South Main Street, Hampstead. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Art Monroe officiating. Interment will be in St. Paul's Cemetery, Arcadia.
