Life Story for Stewart Howard Reed

Stewart Howard Reed, age 89, died on Saturday, December 3, 2016, at his home in Stevenson. Mr Reed was the son of the late David William Reed and Naomi Serepta (nee Seaks), both of Hampstead, in Carroll County, MD.

After graduation from Hampstead High School in 1944, Mr Reed joined the United States Navy, and was stationed in the Pacific during WWII. In 1947, Mr Reed married Mary Jane (nee Cockey).

In addition to his wife of 69 years, Mr Reed is survived by his daughter Jane Weber (and son-in-law Joel Weber), his daughter Michele Singleton (and son-in-law Robert Singleton), and his son, David Reed (and daughter-in-law Cindy Reed). Mr Reed is survived by grandsons Jason and Jonathan Weber, Robert, Andrew, and Michael Singleton, David Reed Jr, and granddaughter Chelsea Reed. Mr Reed is also survived by five great-grandchildren, and his sister Leona Kiler (nee Reed) of Hampstead. Mr Reed was a “very special father-in-law” to Kathleen Bentz, and a “very special grandfather” to Mathew McGowan. Mr Reed was pre-deceased by his brother, Sterling Reed.

A service will be held Sunday December 11, 2016 at 12 noon, in the Chapel of the Masonic Home of Maryland, located at 300 International Circle, Cockeysville, MD 21030. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Masonic Home of Maryland, the Lions Club of Hampstead MD, or to the American Lung Association.
