Shirley June  Hughes (Wheeler)
Shirley Hughes, 82 of FutureCare Cherrywood, in Reisterstown, MD, where she was temporarily staying for rehabilitation from a recent surgery. She was formerly a resident of Hampstead, MD and passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2017. Shirley was born to the late Ralph Golden Wheeler and Virgie (Murphy) Wheeler, Airey on October 21, 1934 in Dorchester County, Maryland. Shirley graduated from Dorchester High School. She was preceded in death by her loving husband T/Sgt Donald Everett Hughes in 1999.
Shirley enjoyed art and traveling as a military wife. She lived in France with her family and visited many countries overseas. She was active in PTA, Girl Scouts, Church and the Cat Fanciers Association. She was an Office Manager at Shepherd AFB in Texas and an Account Clerk at Baltimore County Government in Maryland. Shirley retired in 1996 to enjoy traveling and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a generous, kind and loving woman who loved and enjoyed her family and friends.
She is survived by daughter and son in law Donna Sullivan, Ensor and Joseph; a son Glen Alan Hughes and his late wife, Shirley (Smith); grandchildren Michael Sullivan and wife Nicole (Vadala), Joshua Ensor and wife Hillary (Geiman) Jessica (Hughes) Walker and husband Joseph III, Gwendolyn Hughes, G. Alan Hughes II, and Tamara M. M. Ensor. In addition, she is also survived by great-grandchildren; Taylor (Sullivan) VanPraag, Joseph Walker IV, Alex Walker, Savannah Ensor, Elijah Ensor, Caroline Ensor, sister-in-laws: Audrey Wheeler, Elaine Daniel, Helen Hughes, Darlene Chapman, a wonderful abundance of nieces and nephews and very dear friends; Cleo Rotz, Ben Poletynski, Audra (Ruppert) and husband John Uhler, Tyler Uhler and Kathy Turfle.
She was preceded in death by the following brothers and sisters; Lorraine Gross, Ralph P. Wheeler, Madeline ‘Sis’ King, Sara ‘Jo’ Blevins and Thomas Wheeler.
A visitation and service will be held Wednesday, March 1, 2017, from 10:00 am -
12:00 pm at Eline Funeral Home - 934 South Main St, Hampstead, MD with Pastor Fred Sipes officiating.

Interment will be in Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens.
