Elwood Preston Rill, 80, of Glen Rock, passed away on Monday, February 6, 2017 at home. Born April 18, 1936 in Hampstead, he was the son of the late Alvin and Sarah (Elseroad) Rill. He was the beloved husband of S. Elizabeth (Boone) Rill, his wife of 60 years.

He was a graduate of Hampstead High School class of 1954 and had been a self-employed building contractor. He was a member of Black Rock Church of the Brethren and did volunteer work at Lineboro Fire Company and did work with community projects with Brethren Disaster Ministries. He had been a life member of Carroll County Agriculture Center, Inc. and also the Maryland 4-H All Stars. Elwood had been involved in the 4-H Program from childhood, serving as club leader and President of Carroll Co. All Stars.

Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters, Suzanne Werner & husband John of Manchester, MD, Terry Martin & husband Doug of Hampstead, MD, Beth Lesley of Concord, CA, Jennifer Rill of Jacksonville, FL; brothers, Carl Rill & Wayne Rill, both of Hampstead; eight grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a grandson, Andrew Martin.

Visitation will be held Thursday, February 9, 2017, 1:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. at Black Rock Church of the Brethren, 3864 Glenville Road, Glenville, PA 17329. Funeral services will follow at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. David Miller & Rev. Brandon Grady officiating. Interment will be in Black Rock Church of the Brethren Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Black Rock Church of the Brethren Memorial Fund, 3864 Glenville Road, Glenville, PA 17329.
