John Alvin  Schmidt
John Alvin Schmidt, 87, of Finksburg, MD passed away after a long fought battle with Alzheimer’s on October 15, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born October 25, 1928 in Owings Mills, MD, he was the son of the late John and Bessie (nee, Moser) Schmidt. And the beloved husband of Deedria Schmidt.
John was a graduate of Franklin High School. After graduation he served in the US Army as an Artillery Instructor and helped to further develop radar systems. He was Regional East Coast Manager of Trailways Bus System. He was also the owner and operator of the following business ventures: The Lamplight Inn of Reisterstown, MD; Metro Moving & Storage of Finksburg, MD, and Metro RVs of Finksburg, MD. John was a member of the Redman's Club with his father, past president of Moose Lodge 1577 of Reisterstown, MD and past president of the Maryland RVDA.
In addition to his wife, John is survived by his three sons, John F. Schmidt and wife Dian, Donald B. Schmidt, John A. Schmidt, Jr. and wife Faith; daughter, Judith Creamer and husband Harry; daughter-in-law, Ella Schmidt; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2016, from 2:00pm - 4:00pm & 6:00pm – 8:00pm at the Eline Funeral Home - 2901 Bloom Road, Finksburg, MD. A celebration of John's life will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at 11:00am with Pastor Pete Puckett officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
