A TRIBUTE TO GRANDMA – A woman of God is gone home

This is what the Lord says: “restrain your voice from weeping and your eyes from tears, for your work will be rewarded”
(Jeremiah 31:16)

It is with deep sorrow that we write this tribute to our dear Grandma, Grace Ama Pokua Kesson, a soul that epitomised what it meant to be a mother has departed from us as a church.
Grandma as we affectionately called her has been associated with our church right from the beginning. Even though she was a very active member of the Assemblies of God Church she always found time to be part of our services. Her zeal and commitment to God was always an encouragement and a challenge for us young ones. To the entire membership of Word Alive Chapel, Grandma personifies absolute commitment to the service of our Lord Jesus Christ and she did so gracefully.
Even when her health was failing her she insisted on coming to church in the face of protest from many of us. She contributed with her presence, financially, and in many other ways to the church. A woman of God indeed she was. She will be sorely missed. Indeed she will be greatly missed for that special skill of reading the Bible in the “Twi “language. She will be missed for that unique joy that engulfs the church auditorium when Pastor signal that Grandma has arrived; the whole church comes to standstill just to make sure Grandma is comfortably seated and it was a joy greeting Grandma after church service. Infact these priceless memories will forever remain in our heart.
We had information that grandma was travelling to the United States on the 29th May to visit her children for about six months. We wished her well and hoped to see her back just as she had done on her previous visits. Unfortunately, it was not meant to be. On the 1st of June we heard that a day after her arrival in America she was not feeling well and had to be taken to the hospital. Try as the doctors deed Grandma did not survive and that she had gone to be with the Lord.
We are greatly saddened and heartbroken to lose our only Grandma in the church. However, we are consoled by the fact that she fought a good fight; she finished the race and kept the faith. Now there is in store for her the crown of righteousness (2 Timothy 4:7).
Though we grieve today, will grieve tomorrow, and will grieve all our days for you, Grandma, we are glad that you are eternally happy. For you, there will be no more death, no more mourning, no more crying, and no more pain. Soon our own sorrow and pain will also be over. It is only a matter of time, and then we whom you taught to trust in Jesus will join you and the Lord for the everlasting joy and unending celebration of heaven.
For this reason, we comfort ourselves with our strong belief that your transition was not accidental, but rather fits perfectly into God’s plan for you.
Though you are no more with us physically, you will forever remain in our hearts.
May your soul rest in perfect peace Grandma.

Condolence: TRIBUTE FROM: HARRIET BARNES
TO: MRS GRACE KESSON

Maa you are my hero. Not only your children were your own. You were at the beck and call of all our needs. We had you as our own and your home was open to all. I will always remember the advices you gave me on marital issues. I still remember all those selfless sacrifices you made for me. You inculcated not only the fear of the Lord in me but trained me to be a diligent woman.

Words can't express the enormous space you have left in my heart. The materials you gave me for our women fellowship and programmes outline was very valuable. Even my church salute you. The advices you left with me has been of great help to me and my colleagues at work.

The last time I visited, you kept on insisting that you wanted to travel to the USA. You knew this calamity was coming, Was that why you left?

I know and I know you are with your creator in Heaven and we will surely meet one day in paradise.

I leave my condolence with this song. (MHB 511)

BEGONE, UNBELIEF, MY SAVIOUR IS NEAR.
AND TO MY RELEIVE WILL SURELY APPEAR.
BY PRAYER LET ME WRESTLE, AND HE WILL PERFORM.
WITH CHRIST IN THE VESSEL,
I SMILE AT THE STORM.

VERSE 4

WHY SHOULD I COMPLAIN OF WANT OR DISTRESS
TEMPTATION OR PAIN? HE TOLD ME NO LESS,
THE HEIRS OF SALAVATION, I KNOW FORM HIS WORD.
THROUGH MUCH TRIBULATION MUST FOLLOW THEIR LORD.

AMEN.

MAA REST IN BOSSOM OF YOUR LORD JESUS CHIRST.

I TOGETHER WITH THE ENTIRE FAMILY SAY TO YOU A GOOD BYE.
