Obituary for Lindley H. "Dig" DeGarmo

Lindley H. "Dig"  DeGarmo
Lindley H. “Dig” DeGarmo, 87, of Reisterstown passed away on September 14, 2015 at his home. He was born on July 17, 1928 in Miami, Florida to the late George and Ruth (nee Taylor) DeGarmo. He was married to the late Margaret N. “Peggy” DeGarmo for 64 years.
Mr. DeGarmo was the owner of DeGarmo Constructors & Associates. He was very active in the Reisterstown Kiwanis Club. Dig joined Kiwanis on April 1, 1951 and had perfect attendance for 65 years. He served as President of the Reisterstown Kiwanis Club in 1966 and 2008. He was Lt. Governor for the Capital District Kiwanis in 1969 and Governor of the Capital District in 1979. He was the Key Club District Administrator in 1981. He was a very strong supporter of all Service Leadership Programs: CKI, Key Club, Builders Club and Aktion Clubs. From 1996-1999 Dig was a Kiwanis International Trustee on the Kiwanis International Board. Dig participated and chaired numerous Kiwanis International and District committees. He had not missed attending a Kiwanis International or Capital District Convention in the past 30 years. Dig very seldom missed participating in any Kiwanis Club event. He enjoyed raising Hereford Simmental Cattle and was very active in the First Church of Christ Scientist, Towson. But his first love was his family, his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He never missed his children or grandchildren’s school and sporting events. He was a very loving and caring person. He was involved in every aspect of their lives.
He is survived by his children Donald Lindley and his wife Carol DeGarmo of Glen Burnie, Kenneth Lyle DeGarmo of Mitchellville, MD, Suzanne and her husband Christopher Fogarty of Hampstead and Karen and her husband Peter Keyser of Hampstead; grandchildren Jennifer and her husband Jonathan Stack, Sherri Smith, Olivia, Claire and Chandler Fogarty, Amanda and Mollie Keyser; great grandchildren Marissa Curtain, Jordan and Isabelle Stack, Aria Fogarty; sisters Gertrude “Trudy” Harper and Nancy Currier; brother George DeGarmo.
A memorial service will be held at the First Church of Christ Scientist, Towson, One Maryland Ave., Towson, MD 21286 on Monday, September 21, 2015 at 3:00pm. Interment will be private. If desired, contributions may be made to the Kiwanis Club of Reisterstown, P.O. Box 58, Reisterstown, MD 21136. Arrangements by Eline Funeral Home, Reisterstown.
