oyster stew

Pop-Pop was always in the kitchen while I was growing up. He cooked every holiday and celebration dinners. The last thing he made before serving was mashed potatoes. Mashed potatoes is a story for another time. What I remember most was what he made every Christmas Eve - oyster stew. Rich and delicious. When I married Doug and we visited during Christmas time, he tasted the oyster stew and became obsessed. He wanted to make oyster stew like pop-pop's. Over the years, he confided with him over "tea" and learned his stew secret. Now Doug makes oyster stew as pop-pop used to, and he even does the Pop-pop shuffle.
