Obituary for Valerie Roberts (Noel)
On July 10, 2023, Ella Valerie Roberts (age 86), passed away at her beloved Reisterstown home of nearly 58 years. Valerie was born on August 10, 1936 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Emma (nee Harris) and John Noel.
After graduating from Southern High School in 1955, Valerie started her accounting career with the Baltimore Gas & Electric Company where she met her former husband, Neal Roberts. Valerie was a stay-at-home mom to 3 daughters until their teenage years when she went back to work at General Instrument Corporation and then retired from The Rouse Company in 2001.
Valerie was a voracious reader, loved watching Baltimore Orioles games, was a former Red Hat Society member and enjoyed swim exercise classes at the JCC in her healthier days. Valerie also loved watching The Golden Girls, who-done-it mysteries and the game show Jeopardy where she knew nearly all of the questions to the answers. Valerie had a wide friend network, some dating back to her elementary school years, former jobs and the old neighborhood gang, with whom she enjoyed spending time.
Valerie is survived by her daughters Lisa Swisko and husband George of Laurel, MD, Tammy Daiker and husband Bob of Longs, SC and Maureen Paletti and husband John of Homestead, FL; grandchildren Joseph Paletti & Erynn Paletti both of Homestead, FL; sister Catherine Register of Millsboro, DE; former husband Neal Roberts of Ridge, MD; and sister-in-law Lynn Jean of Myrtle Beach, SC. Valerie is also survived by 5 nieces and 1 nephew. She was predeceased by sister Emma Noel and brother-in-law John Jean.
