Obituary for Sylvia Joan Carl (French)
Sylvia Joan Carl, 81, of Upperco, passed away on December 23, 2019 at the Sinai Hospital of Baltimore, MD. Born October 15, 1938 in Kent, England, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Edith (Tolhurst) French and the devoted wife of William D Carl, Jr.
Sylvia came to the U.S. in 1963 at the age of 25. Having experience as an Administrative Assistant in England, she put her skills to work with her husband as co-owner of Hunter Green General Contracting, INC. She enjoyed traveling, cooking for her family, tending her garden, knitting, sewing, and had a great love of animals. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Sylvia is preceded in death by both her parents and son, Mark Swinn.
Sylvia is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, William D. Carl, Jr.; daughter, Linda Belt of New Park, PA; step-daughter, Rachel B. Becker of Stewartstown, PA; step-son, William D. Carl, III of Westminster, MD, sister, Denise Lockett and 5 grandchildren.
A celebration of Sylvia's life will be held August 20, 2023 from 12-3pm at McFaul's IronHorse Tavern, 2260 Cromwell Bridge Rd. Parkville, MD, 21234.
