Obituary for Raymond Edward Pryor

Raymond Edward Pryor, age 87, of Baltimore, passed away Sunday evening, November 20, 2022 at Shoreline Care Center in Port Hueneme, California.

He was born November 29, 1934, in Baltimore, and graduated from Loyola High School. Raymond proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1955. “I was a corpsman in the Navy,” he would tell people, recounting stories from his tour in Japan and wearing an omnipresent retired U.S. Navy cap. After the service, Raymond attended the University of Baltimore, earning a degree of Associate in Arts. He initially worked for Traveler’s Insurance before becoming a lawyer. He worked as an attorney for 52 years. Raymond also served as Magistrate Judge for Baltimore County.

Raymond loved golfing, sailing and his family. He enjoyed his Polish foods -- pierogi and chruscikis (also known as angel wings). Raymond was generous and caring. For 51 years, he dressed as Santa Claus during Christmas and gave gifts at Kernan Hospital (now known as University of Maryland Rehabilitation & Orthopaedic Institute) for disabled children and Sinai Hospital in Baltimore. In addition to the hospital parties, Raymond, with his brother Melvin, expanded the parties in four schools for the handicapped, including Ridge Ruxton, Battle Monument, Maiden Choice and White Oak. He was active in Special Olympics and dedicated his time volunteering at their events.

Raymond was the son of the late Mary and Walter Przybylski. Raymond was predeceased by his devoted wife of 61 years, Dolores A. Pryor (nee Fialkowski). He is survived by his son Jeffrey Pryor from Oxnard, California and was predeceased by his daughter Stephanie J. McLaughlin. Raymond has 5 grandchildren: Ryan McLaughlin, Todd McLaughlin, Megan McLaughlin, Samantha Pryor and Jack Pryor; and 2 great grandsons Avett and Waylon.

The family will be receiving friends at the Eline Funeral Home, 11824 Reisterstown Road, Reisterstown, Maryland 21136 on Thursday, December 1, 2022 from 3-5 and 7-9pm and Mass will be Celebrated at the Sacred Heart of Glyndon Church, 63 Sacred Heart Lane, Glyndon, Maryland 21071 on Friday at 10:00 AM.
