Obituary for Philip Terrence Sparr

Philip Terrence Sparr 31 March 1945-2 April 2022. Philip Terrence Sparr, “Terry,” passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on April 2nd, 2022, two days after his 77th birthday, in the home of his daughter, Karen Sparr Arnold, in Reisterstown, MD. Terry was the son of the late Leroy A. Sparr and Anna M. (née Rassa) Sparr, and husband of the late Julia W. Sparr. Terry, fifth of Leroy and Anna’s six children, grew up in the Fork, Bel Air, and Kingsville, MD areas and graduated from Loyola High School in 1963. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1966-1969; he was stationed at Corpus Christi Naval Air Station, TX and Cam Ranh Bay, Vietnam. Terry spent the past forty years on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. He worked as a waterman on the Chesapeake Bay, Carvel Hall, and the City of Salisbury, and he owned and developed several businesses including JT Manufacturing in Crisfield, MD and FinTec in Salisbury, MD. Terry was a recreational pilot and a lover of sailing. He made sailing trips from the Chesapeake to the Bahamas, several of which were with his son, Philip Terrence Jr. He enjoyed electronics and all things mechanical, as well as teaching his granddaughters how to check the oil in their cars and craft innovative contraptions to keep squirrels out of bird feeders. He enjoyed watching and following the Ravens and the Orioles, and he was gifted with a beautiful singing voice and great sense of humor.

Terry is survived by his son, Philip T. Sparr Jr. of Chesapeake, VA, daughter and son-in-law, Karen Sparr Arnold and Lee Arnold, of Reisterstown, MD, three granddaughters, Jacqueline, Caroline, and Claire Arnold, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are welcome to celebrate Terry’s life on Friday, April 8th, from 7-9pm at the home of Karen Sparr Arnold, 206 Glyndon Meadow Road, Reisterstown, MD. Family and friends are also invited to a funeral mass, which will be celebrated for Terry on Saturday, April 9th at 11am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glyndon, MD. Interment will be private at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Baltimore, MD.
