PETER E. GILL
NOVEMBER 2, 1946 – AUGUST 28, 2023
Peter Edmey Gill, affectionately known as "Charlie" to his friends and loved ones, peacefully passed away on Monday, August 28, 2023, at the home of his daughter in Reisterstown, Maryland, USA. He was born on November 2, 1946, at the Port of Spain General Hospital in Trinidad and Tobago, the third child of the late Iona and Rodney Gill. He was preceded in death by his brother Trevor Gill and his sister Maureen Jones.
Peter's journey in life was marked by dedication and warmth. He attended Carenage Boys Government School and went on to serve as a Marine Engineer at the Port of Spain Port Authority for many years.
Known as "Mr. Edmey" or "Charlie" to all who knew him, he possessed a generous spirit, always ready to lend a helping hand without seeking anything in return. While he was a serious individual, he also found joy in laughter and spending time with friends. Peter was a great soccer and cricket player and also had a profound passion for gardening, dedicating his time to tending to the family yard, roadsides, and assisting others with their gardens. He also enjoyed taking sea baths and preparing his favorite dish, "FISH BROTH."
Peter Gill's absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and a commitment to helping others. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving children, Nicole Gill, Jason Gill, and Danielle Gill-Ettienne, and her husband Jason Ettienne, as well as his wife, Diana Maxwell. Peter's legacy extends to his three grandsons, Shane Gill-Joseph, Ajani Joseph, and Zakai Aggrey, his granddaughter Hannah Aggrey, and several other cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Peter was also dearly loved by his extended family, including his mother-in-law Yvonne Maxwell, aunt-in-law Sibyl Pierre, sister-in-law Janice Maxwell, and Maureen (Merle) Gill. He is remembered fondly by his sister, Glenda Cox, nephews Durmmott Mullings, Sherwin Gill, and great-nephew Jaden Jones. His numerous cousins, including Romania Joseph, Lenora St. Thomas, Josephine Ann Johnson, Wayne and Anthony Eve, Selwyn Maxwell, Noel and Ralph Pierre, and the Cassimy family. They all share in the loss.
Peter Gill's circle of friends was a source of joy and camaraderie throughout his life. He cherished his friendships with Steve, Zig, Frankie, Renwick and family, Debra, Rhonda, Lyndon, Rusell, Jonelle and the Lee Young family.
