Obituary for Oliver 'Frank' Franklin Mitchell

On April 30, 2021, Oliver Franklin (Frank) Mitchell peacefully passed away at age 86. Frank was the beloved husband of Lillian C. Mitchell (nee Gaskin) for over 64 years. He was the devoted father of Kimberleigh Ann and Mark Steven and loving grandfather of Maxx Steven.

Frank graduated from City High School, got married, joined the Army Reserves, and then earned his B.S. in Business Management (summa cum laude), at the University of Baltimore where he was also inducted into the Beta Alpha Honorary Society. He earned his college degree while working full time at Baltimore Gas & Electric. Frank was employed by BGE for 41 years as he advanced his career through various departments and served for a year as President of the BGE Association.

After retirement, Frank served for 2 terms as President of the BGE Retirees' Association and then served on the committee for many years. He was also an active member of both the Glyndon and Reisterstown United Methodist Churches where he taught Sunday School and served on the Administrative Board.

Frank was also a huge sports fan, an avid golfer, and he very much enjoyed traveling with his wife, Lillian. He also served as a coach for several of his son's baseball teams, and he was a fierce fan of both the Baltimore Orioles and Colts. Frank was passionate about his career, church involvement, his family and friends, and he had a sense of humor that everyone enjoyed. We will miss him dearly.
