Obituary for Natalia Kaverina

On the morning of November 28th, 2019, Natalia Kaverina of Moscow, Russia, passed away after a long battle with cancer, in Towson, Maryland. She was an extraordinary woman who has impacted many lives during her 66 years on this earth. After graduating from high school with a “gold” diploma, she went on to attend Lomonosov Moscow State University (MGU) where she received a Master’s degree in Geomorphology. This is also happened to be the place where she met her future husband, Aslan Akhaminov. After MGU, while working for Russian Academy of Science, she went on to take part in many expeditions and got to see vast expanses of USSR; stories of which excited her kids for years to come. Over time however, she found interest in editing and publishing and that is where she spent most of her career, becoming a chief editor for a publishing house. Fast forward to 1997, a devout Moscovite, together with Aslan and her two children, Alena and Aleksey, moved family move to Maryland. The life in a different country was not without challenges but together with her husband, they built a strong foundation for their childern. Throughout her life and no matter the distance, she maintained friendships with people that will dearly miss her now. However, the most impact Natalia has had was on her husband, children and grandsons – whose lives would be forever changed by the Thanksgiving morning of 2019.

As Natalia moves on to heaven, she is survived by her loving husband, son and daughter, two grandsons, sister and brother-in-law, niece and nephew-in-law, grand-nephew and other relatives and lifelong friends in various countries.

Family will receive friends at the Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church, 6480 Elibank Drive,
Elkridge, MD 21075 on Saturday, November 30, 2019 from 10:30am to 11:00am. Service will begin at 11:00am at the church. Interment in Holy Trinity Orthodox Cemetery.
