Matthew McMaster of Pikesville, MD, passed away March 6 at the age of 61. Matt was born on April 4, 1961 in Trenton, MI, to Gerald and Carol McMaster (Cislaw). He is survived by his wife Sally (Omani) and their children Katrina and Victoria. He is also survived by his father Gerald and his step-mother Delphine, his siblings Gerald and wife Nancy; Greg; Julie Wheeler; sister-in-law Hillary McMaster; Darlene Kryza, along with nine nieces and nephews, and great niece. Matt was preceded in death by his mother Carol, brother Paul, and brother in-law Douglas Wheeler.

After graduating Catholic Central H.S. in Redford, MI (1979), he attended University of Michigan-Dearborn, graduating with a BS in Physics. Shortly after graduating, he moved to Maryland to work at the Space Telescope Science Institute in 1989, where he spent his entire professional career. Working at STSCI, he followed his passion for space research by working on the Hubble Space Telescope and James Webb Space Telescope.

Although Matt battled multiple health issues throughout his life, he passed on his great curiosity of the unknown and love of learning to his daughters – who he believed were his greatest accomplishments.
Per Matt's wishes, his body will be donated to the Uniformed Services University and their Anatomical Gift Program. He hoped his gift can enhance medical knowledge for present and future diabetic and organ transplant recipients. We are all pleased his pursuit of science will be paid forward.

Friends may call at the Eline Funeral Home11824 Reisterstown Road, Reisterstown, MD 21136 on Friday 3/10/23 from 2:00PM - 4:00PM and 6:00PM - 8:00PM. A Mass will be celebrated on Saturday 3/11/23 at 10:30AM in St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 101 Church Lane, Pikesville, MD 21208. Interment will be handled privately with the family.
