Obituary for Lena Marie Smith (Wilhelm)
Lena M. (nee Wilhelm) Smith, 89, from Upperco, MD passed away on March 3, 2021. She was the daughter of the late Leona (nee Naylor) Wilhelm and Lewis M. Wilhelm, Sr. of Sparks, MD. Lena was the loving wife of the late George F. Smith.
Lena was a manager of the lunch counter at F.W. Woolworth’s in Reisterstown for 37 years. She loved popping those balloons and making banana splits. Lena also bartended for the American Legion, Post 116 in Reisterstown for many years. She was a devoted wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed sitting outdoors with her dog, “Bridget” and going camping with the family.
Surviving in addition to her daughter and son in law, Kim and Bud Murray, is granddaughter Stacey M. Murray-Fritz and husband Donald L. Fritz, Jr., step great granddaughter Leah M. Fritz, brothers Lewis M. Wilhelm, Jr. and wife Sharon, Larry R. Wilhelm, Sr. and wife Carla, step sister Darlene Kowalevicz and husband Don. She leaves behind a large family of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She is predeceased by brother Roy Wilhelm and sisters Nancy Spurlin and Rose Doster.
Family will receive friends on Monday, March 8, 2021 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at Eline Funeral Home, 11824 Reisterstown Road, Reisterstown, MD. Service will be held on Tuesday, 11:30am at the funeral home. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Due to current COVID restrictions, there is a 40 person building maximum. Masks are required.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to your local Animal Shelter or to the family to help with expenses, which would be greatly appreciated but not necessary.
