Obituary for Kenneth Frederick Russell Sr.

Kenneth Frederick  Russell Sr.
Kenneth Frederick Russell, Sr., 85, of Finksburg, MD passed away on October 27, 2018. Born October 3, 1933 in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Louis and Ruth (House) Russell and the devoted husband of Charlotte Blanche Russell.
Ken served in the US Navy during the Korean War on the USS Coral Sea as an aircraft mechanic. He retired from the Baltimore City Police Department after 23 years of service, where he worked in the Traffic Division. After retirement he served 14 years as the Police Chief for Hamptead, MD. He then drove for 15 years for the Carroll Area Transit System. He was a member of the American Legion Post 116 and served as Commodore of the Riverside Yacht Club. He enjoyed playing games on his computer, researching genealogy and laughing at his own jokes. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents and son, Steven Russell; brothers, Robert Russell and Norman Russell.
Ken is survived by his wife of 65 years, Charlotte Spencer Russell; three children: son, Kenneth Russell Jr. and wife Linda of Manchester, MD, Cynthia Russell of Finkburg, MD, son, John Russell, Sr. and girlfriend Lori Van Sant of Finksburg, MD; five grandchildren: Erin Russell, Johanna Edwards, Kelly Karner, John Russell Jr., Stephanie Reter; twelve great-grandchildren and brother Earl Russell.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 31, 2018, from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm & 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Eline Funeral Home, 2901 Bloom Road, Finksburg, MD. A service will be held on Thursday, November 1, 2018, at 11:00 am at the Funeral Home. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
