Obituary for Joseph D. Trinite Sr.

Joseph Doherty Trinite, Sr, age 89, of Reisterstown, MD passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 24, 2021. He was born in Richmond, VA on January 11, 1932, the son of the late Charles Eugene and Ruth Leslie Trinite. He was the seventh of eight children with whom his entire life was ever faithful in cherishing and nurturing the blessing it was to have close siblings to share a lifetime of memories. The loving bond he shared with his brothers and sisters was extended to each one of his siblings' spouses, for the 16 of them put family first, and it was not uncommon to hear him on the phone regularly talking to any one of them. For years, the 16 of them had a monthly card club where they alternated houses in which they would gather together to play their favorite card games, enjoy food, cocktails, and always with an abundance of laughter. The bond he shared with his siblings and in-laws widened to each of his nieces and nephews, all 41 of them,
for Joe was notorious for having a loving relationship with them always staying in touch, visiting them, or a legendary game of golf, for everyone loved “Uncle Joe”.

Joe was a devoted Catholic whose faith reached unsurmountable limits. It began as a young boy ,being brought up in the Church with his devout parents and family, where Joe became an altar boy at the age of 11. Ever loyal, Joe was up every Sunday morning at 5 a.m. to walk to Church for 5:30 a.m. mass at St. Ann’s in Baltimore to serve as an altar boy. He continued this weekly service until he graduated High School. Joe carried on his faith becoming a Parishioner at Sacred Heart,Glyndon in 1967 a nd continued his service with the church as a Eucharistic Minister, The Rosary Club, and Life in the Spirit Prayer Group. It was never without fail that Joe said his daily prayers and prayed the Rosary every day with his loving wife, Gail.

Joe attended Loyola Blakefield High School where he flourished as an outstanding athlete as the star quarterback on the football team and the star baseball player as the Second Baseman. Joe’s love for sports carried on throughout his life for he loved playing his game of golf, was an avid Baltimore Oriole fan, a Baltimore Colts fan, a Baltimore Ravens fan and if anyone knew Joe, the Fighting Irish was his team. His fervent passion for Notre Dame brought him to all the Notre Dame/Navy games in Baltimore or Philadelphia and three times to Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend, Indiana with his family members who were just as passionate as he was. From High School, Joe entered the United States Marines in 1952 where he served until 1955 earning the rank of Corporal. As a Marine, Joe fought in the Korean War, and being a Veteran of Foreign Wars, Joe was very active with the Catholic War Veterans, the VFW, and the Knights of Columbus.

Joe is survived by his wife, Mary Gail (Nee Wright) Trinite, six children, Michelle Kelly (Drew), Joseph Trinite, Jr. (Allyson), Jeannette Palmieri (Nick), Kathy Vall, John Trinite, and Dianne Rudolph, 15 grandchildren, Sarah Rhodes (Andy), Scott Mersinger, Sean Kelly, Jacob, Jackson, and Nathan Trinite, Gina and Danielle Palmieri, Andrew (Ellen), Daniel, Timothy, and Abigail Vall, Sharah Trinite and Megan and Kristen Rudolph and three great grandchildren Mia and Liam Rhodes, and Kailyn Mersinger. Joe loved and adored his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and made it a priority to attend all of their activities: sports, academic, or celebratory, for Joe never missed an opportunity to be encircled by his family.

Family and relationships were everything to Joe Trinite, Sr., for his sincere, outgoing personality brought him to talk with anyone. His family and friends will attest that Joe had an excellent memory and could recall any story, name, date, and was a fantastic story teller with a laugh that was infectious. It was most important to him to be surrounded by family and friends, and if anyone needed anything, it was Joe Trinite, Sr. that would deliver. The respect he gave and earned from the innumerable amount of people he knew was his legacy for his life started and ended with family.
