On March 22, 2020 Joseph Van Lone Sill, Sr. passed away at his home in Pikesville. He was the husband of Dorothy Marie (nee Appler) for 57 years; father of Joseph Van Lone Sill, Jr. and Linda M. Sill. He was predeceased by his brother Charles Louis Sill, Jr. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Joseph was a licensed journeyman plumber and member of Local 486 Plumbers and Steam Fitters Union for over 60 years. He was a Master Mason with Ionic Lodge 145 and Past Worthy Patron and member with OES #73. As a member of the Salem United Methodist Church of Hebbville for 79 years he was on the Board of Trustees, a Sunday School Teacher and received “Man of the Year” award from the church in 1999. He was a member in the National Guard, Boy Scouts and 4H. He was involved with Meals on Wheels, where he earned Volunteer of the Year, 2004.

He had many interests including bluegrass and country music, reading, traveling where he was able to visit 35 states and he loved the Orioles and Ravens. He was also a skilled woodworker.
