Obituary for John Henry "Jack" Roeder III

John H. (Jack) Roeder, III 79, of Hampstead, MD passed away on January 9, 2020 at the Citizens Care & Rehab in Frederick, MD. Born March 29, 1940 in Cumberland, MD, he was the son of the late John Henry Roeder, II and Anna (Yutzy) Roeder Kalbaugh and the devoted husband of Carol H. Roeder.


He was a graduate of Maryland School for the Blind class of 1961. Before retiring, he managed shops in the Randolph Sheppard Vending Program for 45 years. Jack enjoyed listening to audio books, many genres of music, and Orioles games, had an interest in classic cars and model trains, and spending time with friends and family. He volunteered in the cooking ministry at his church. He was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Owings Mills, Maryland School for the Blind Alumni Association, and Maryland Council of the Blind.


He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Carol H. Roeder of Hampstead, MD; two daughters: Dorothy Ann Newton and husband Harry of Hampstead, MD, V. Emily Parker and husband Daniel of Winchester, VA; grandchildren: Jacob A. Newton, Serena T. Newton, Caroline F. McGovern, and Wyatt H. Parker.


A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2020, at 11:00 am at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 232 St. Thomas Lane Owings Mills, MD with Reverend Anjel Scarborough officiating. Interment will be in St. Thomas Episcopal Cemetery.
