J. Edward Crooks, Jr., “Chief”, “Spanky”, retired Deputy Chief, 80, of Upperco, MD passed away on January 21, 2021 at his home. He was born on September 10, 1940 in Baltimore, MD to the late John Edward Crooks, Sr. and the late Marjorie Louise (nee McGuire) Crooks. He was married to the late Kathryn Louise (nee Martin) Crooks.
He was a retired Deputy Chief with the Baltimore County Fire Department and a life member of Owings Mills and Upperco Volunteer Fire Companies. He was also a life member of the Maryland Steam Historical Society. Ed enjoyed volunteering, farming, his cows and spending time with his family.
He was a devoted father and grandfather of daughter Robin L. Freeman of Kentucky, son J. Ross Crooks of Upperco and granddaughter Misty L. Freeman of Kentucky.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 29, 2021 at 10:00am at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens, 200 East Padonia Road, Timonium, MD 21093.
