Obituary for John Charles Brown

Brown, John Charles “Chuck”, age 91, formerly of Pratt St. Baltimore, MD, passed away Monday, January
17, 2022. Son of the late John William Brown and Lillian Zajdel Brown. Predeceased by his sister Virginia
Brown Harlow and her husband James Edward Harlow.
He was a 1948 graduate of Mount St. Joseph High School, a 1950 classical pianist graduate of Peabody
Institute, Baltimore, MD, and obtained his B.S. degree and Master of Finance from Loyola College in
Baltimore, MD. In the 1950’s he formed the Chuck Brown Trio and regularly performed at Patapsco Inn.
Throughout his life, he also played music at various affairs and venues with many different bands and
groups.
He was an Accountant for the Bethlehem Steel Company in Sparrows Point, MD, and Chief Accountant
of Baltimore County from 1977 until his retirement in 1995. He took First Honors in the state of
Maryland on the May 1966 CPA exam. Among his many interests he played piano, organ, synthesizer,
and guitar, was an avid golfer, a lifelong learner, loved to read, and studied Latin, Spanish and
Shakespeare.
He is survived by his beloved wife of almost 62 years Sara Lane Brown (nee Olsen), his four girls Susan
Miller and her husband Chris Miller, Sandra Goldstein, Joanne Goldstein and her husband David
Goldstein, Jeanne Ewen and her husband David Ewen; his nephew Edward; his grandchildren Brian,
Kevin, Jennifer, Rebecca, Amy, Jason, and Pierce, and his great granddaughter Annabella. He is
predeceased by his nephew Charles and his grandchildren Ryan and Amanda.
A celebration of his life will be held at Eline Funeral Home at 11824 Reisterstown Rd. Reisterstown, Md
21136 on Friday, January 21, 2022, from 5:00pm – 8:00pm.
