Joan Q. Medlin, age 86, passed away peacefully November 11th 2019 surrounded by her family. She was born March 22, 1933 in Quincy, MA to Maurice and Anna Quimby. She was married to the late Walter Medlin.

Joan loves to be with her family talking and sharing stories of life. When she wasn’t taking care of her children and grandchildren, you could usually find her in her sewing room making costumes for the children, grandchildren and great grandchildren or with friends playing bridge. As a long time member of the Reisterstown community she was a Lioness and a Jaycee until she and her family moved to California for a brief time following her husband for a job. Never one to appreciate the California lifestyle she got so excited to hear that the job was moving them back to her beloved Reisterstown.

Once her own children had moved and married her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren/ great grandchildren and watching them grow. She enjoyed spending time with her group of friends playing bridge, going out for dinner and going on small trips as a group. Though she will be greatly missed, we know she is happy to be reunited with her family that she has missed over the years.

Mrs. Medlin is survived by her son Paul Medlin of Edgewater, MD; son Philip Medlin of Harwood, MD; daughter Nancy Medlin of Eagle River, AK; daughter Michelle Whalan of Auckland, New Zealand; grandchildren Carrie, Jeff, Brandon, Christine, Brittaney and Sam Medlin, & Tyler, Wyatt and Guy Rohde; great grandchildren Andrew, Kendrick, Kylie, Levi and Taylor. Predeceased by husband Walter Medlin, son W. Stephen Medlin, sisters Eleanor Wood and Martha Beardsley and brother Ellis Quimby.

Family will receive friends at the Eline Funeral Home, 11824 Reisterstown Road, Reisterstown, MD on Sunday, November 17, 2019 from 1pm to 2pm. Service will begin at 2pm. Interment will be private.

If desired, donations may be made to The Woodward School, Attn: Development Office, 1102 Hancock Street, Quincy, MA 02169.

I met Joan last year when a dear member of my church asked if I could help her with some cleaning duties in her home. We quickly became friends as I cleaned (and she chatted), telling me all about her family and the many memories in her home. Everything I cleaned or dusted had a memory or a story to it. She was so passionate about family! I will miss her so very much, but am at peace that she is now at rest, dancing in heaven with family and Walter, without her oxygen trailing behind her!

Joan and I met when we both worked for Calico Corners in Towson many years ago. She was a remarkable seamstress. She made many lovely things for me and my family...beautiful pillows, draperies, etc. including a unique shower curtain that traveled to my daughter's home in England. I enjoyed our chats so much...she loved her family, and know she will be greatly missed. She was a kind and lovely lady! Patti Walters

Although I did not know Mrs Medlin well, I did know of her shopping at Mars Supermarkets all of the years I worked there, she was always sweet, friendly and loved to carry on a good conversation.

I graduated High School with Nancy in 1983, Nancy was always the sweetest, kindest most caring person I knew back then, I hope today finds Nancy and her family doing well and that you all find comfort in the memories Mrs Joan leaves behind with all of you.

My Sincere Condolences to the Medlin Family, Mark Hennigan
