Obituary for Joan Patricia Manno (Burnham)

Joan Patricia Manno, 84, of Reisterstown, passed away on April 27, 2021

She was born on May 19, 1936 to the late Edward and Lucille (deMercado) Burnham in Baltimore, MD. Joan attended all-girls school, The Institute of Notre Dame, for 12 years then worked as a Secretary for Verizon, formally known as C&P, for over 26 years. Mrs. Manno and her husband, Louis, were loyal members of their church, Sacred Heart in Glyndon, MD for over 64 years.

Joan was loved by all that knew her. She was kind and caring, unique, fiercely loyal, and never forgot to send a card (and to follow up with a phone call) for every holiday and birthday. Joan was a caretaker of not only family, but animals as well. During her time in Reisterstown she enjoyed feeding squirrels around the home and took in several feral cats as if they were her own. She was truly a woman of style and class, reminding everyone of their manners and to put their phones away during dinner time when family was together. Joan enjoyed her life in many ways, traveling, shopping, playing bingo, equestrianism (riding and showing), but most important of all was her time spent with loved ones. Her presence, and lace cookies, will be sincerely missed.

Joan is survived by her adoring husband, Mr. Louis Victor Manno, two daughters, Victoria A. Thanner (John G.) of Bel Air, MD, Cynthia L. Starr (Daniel W.) of Reisterstown; son, Louis D. Manno of Reisterstown, MD; 5 grandchildren, Kristie M. Tinney (Chris) and Louis (Elizabeth) and their mother Betty G. Manno, Michael G. Thanner, Nicole E. Davis (Dylan), and Jessica Starr; 1 step-grandchild, Daniel A.; 4 great grandchildren, she is survived by 1 sister Mary Merwitz, and many nieces and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by 5 of her siblings.

Visitation will be held at Eline Funeral Home, Reisterstown, MD on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at 2-4 & 6-8 PM. (Mask and Social Distancing Required)

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 3, 2021, at 10 AM, at Sacred Heart in Glyndon, MD.

Entombment will take place in the mausoleum at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
