James Kane’s Obituary

James Thomas Kane, Jr. “Jim”, 61 years old, passed away September 30, 2021. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Patricia (Torney) Scherer and James Kane, Sr. on July 16, 1960.

He grew up in Pasadena, MD. As a teen he spent his time playing sports, hanging out with his friends, and working with his father at Kane Marine. While working with his dad he learned how to build and fix just about anything. There was no task too large for Jim. He also developed a passion for boating, which continued throughout his life. He graduated from Northeast High School, and later went on to University of Baltimore where he earned his BS in accounting and information technology. For the last 20 years, Jim worked in healthcare as a financial systems manager.

In 1985, Jim was set up on a blind date with his wife the former Nancy Reynolds which began their true love story. They went on to have three beautiful children: Lindsay (33), James (31), and Jonathan (29). Together they loved to go relax on their boat, Raz’n Kane, watch the Ravens games, and just spend time as a family. His witty sense of humor kept family and friends laughing whenever he was around and his kind and gentle personality made everyone feel at home.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of 35 years, Nancy Reynolds, are his daughter Lindsay Baisley (Michael), sons James (Colleen), Jonathan (Emily Fask), grandchildren Lyle and Brooke Baisley, sisters Lisa Kane-Hager (William), Caroline Howard (Thomas), and father James Kane, Sr. He was predeceased by his mother Patricia (Torney) Scherer.

Family will receive friends Friday, October 8, 2021, from 3:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at ELINE FUNERAL HOME, 11824 Reisterstown Road, Reisterstown, MD. Service will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2021, 11 a.m. at Reisterstown United Methodist Church, 246 Main Street, Reisterstown, MD
