Obituary for Harry Van Placide

Harry Van Placide, 93, passed away peacefully with family by his side on 11/13/2022. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Marie; his sister, Patricia (Don); his sons, Harry, Ricky (Nancy) and Michael (Melissa) as well as eight grandchildren and one great granddaughter. He was predeceased by his sister, Marlyn and his brother, Gene. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War, a lifelong stone mason, a master of antique furniture restoration, an artist and a dedicated family man.

Harry could build anything, including the house he lived in and several boats. One of his great loves was spending time fishing and crabbing with his brother on the Chesapeake Bay in a boat he built. He played the trumpet and enjoyed music, especially from the big band era. He was an automobile enthusiast and started a car club in Baltimore, The Talkers. Harry was an avid reader and was self educated on many topics. He was a true Renaissance Man. Harry's remains will be interred at the Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery in a private ceremony on 11/30/22.
