Obituary for Harald Bernhard "Hal" Johnsson Jr.

Harald “Hal” Bernhard Johnsson, Jr., 83, of Reisterstown passed away on December 21, 2020. He was born on September 18, 1937 in Baltimore, MD to the late Harald B. Johnsson, Sr. and the late Asensath (nee Smoot) Johnsson. He was married to Sharon (nee Baker) Johnsson for 62 years.

Hal was raised in the Sparrows Point company town, where his father was an electrical engineer in the steel mills. He attended Sparrows Point schools, enjoyed summers at Tide Mill Farm in St. Michaels, and graduated from Forest Park High School in 1955. He met his future wife Sharon on July 4, 1955 at Arlington Echo Camp, and they married in 1958. In 1960 they moved to Reisterstown where they raised their family.

Hal always liked cars, so found his niche in the automobile service industry. He worked in parts and service for several dealerships, did a little insurance adjusting, and then started working in the auto glass field for four decades. He owned and operated two glass businesses, Nu-Vue Auto Glass in Towson, followed by AA Auto Glass, a strictly mobile company. He enjoyed making the sale and having a satisfied customer.

A faithful Christian, Hal attended Liberty Church, PCA regularly and was involved in men’s Bible study and Baltimore Rescue Mission visitation. In addition to cars, he enjoyed trains, boats, and anything old and mechanical or industrial. He and Sharon also enjoyed attending community concerts and programs. When offered a choice of desserts, he would say “yes,” meaning a little of everything.

He is survived by his wife Sharon Johnsson, daughter A. Christine “Christy” Dearden of Sykesville, son Harald B. “Johnny” Johnsson, III and his wife Dawn of Finksburg and son Erik L. “Rik” Johnsson and his wife Pam of Sykesville; grandchildren Scott Dearden (Sara), Brian Dearden (Jordan), Rachel Dugan (Zach), Karl Johnsson (Noelle), Karin Johnsson, Tori Johnsson, Ben Johnsson and great grandchildren Evan, Abby, Harper, Leah, Cady and Caleb.

Service and interment are private.
