Obituary for Grace Welsh (Ensley)

On March 15, 2020, Grace Welsh (79) of Nottingham - by way of Baltimore, Owings Mills, Pikesville, Fowblesburg, Reisterstown, and Parkville - died peacefully in her sleep after a life filled with vibrant color, good food, and enormous quantities of love.

Grace was “Ma” to Kathy Welsh Smith (Rob) and Tommie Evry (Stephen); “Nana” to Katie and Emily, Nathaniel, Seth, Matthew, Jared, Timothy, Rebekah, and the late Caleb. She was the sister of Tom Ensley; aunt of Heather Fusco (Tony), Michelle Anderson (Doug), and several other nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews (and great-great). She was also a friend to many. She will be missed.

Grace was a banker for many years, starting in high school at the Pikesville People’s Bank and continuing at Maryland National Bank. Grace was actively involved in Parents Without Partners, holding leadership positions in her local chapter. In her retirement, she worked at the Baltimore Museum of Art as a guard, in order to spend time around the art she loved and to help others enjoy it. She was very involved in Friends of Mercy, and most recently in her retirement community at Village Crossroads. As well as participating in activities and trips with both, Grace also led discussion groups, a writing club, and many other activities.

Service and interment are private at this time, though a celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

Gifts may be made to Carroll Hospice.
