Obituary for Francis X. Mcguire

On September 3, 2022 Francis X. McGuire passed away. He was the husband of the late Joan Agnes McGuire. Frank was born on March 1, 1933 to the late Charlotte (nee Bowers) and Charles A. McGuire. He is survived by two daughters, Tammy McGuire and her partner Frank Buccini, Colleen Bacinski and her husband John, two sons, Francis X. McGuire Jr. and his wife Marie, and Michael McGuire and his wife Kristen. He is also survived by five granddaughters, Stephanie Safchuck, Dorothy Goebel, Christine Bacinski, Erin McGuire, Adeline McGuire; two grandsons, Brady McGuire, Garrett McGuire and one great-granddaughter, Savannah Safchuck, two sisters, Bert Obrien and Pat White. In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by 12 siblings.

Frank was 1 of 15 siblings born and raised in Baltimore city. He graduated from City College High School, served honorably for several years in the U.S. Army. He was first in his family to attend college, graduating from Towson University with a teaching degree and later earning a master’s degree from Loyola University. He taught Social Studies and English for a majority of his career at Franklin Middle school, from which he retired. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and father-in-law. He loved bike riding on NCR trail, spending time with his children and grandchildren whether it was playing wiffleball, playing catch or attending their high school or collegiate sporting events. He enjoyed vacationing with his family, coaching youth sports, game nights and woodworking. Prior to his wife’s death he traveled extensively within the US and abroad. He and his wife supported live theater at local colleges and a local professional company “Theater on the hill”

Frank had a sharp wit and was quick with a joke; attributes that made him popular with students, family and friends. Long after he retired old students would stop by to visit and write letters of appreciation. The loss of his beloved wife in 2016 was a devastating blow from which he never fully recovered. His family and friends find comfort in knowing he is now reunited with his beloved wife and sole-mate Joan Agnes McGuire.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 15, 2022 from 2 pm to 4 pm and 6 pm to 8 pm at Eline Funeral Home, 11824 Reisterstown Road, Reisterstown, MD 21136.
