Obituary for Edward II Suk Song

On Tuesday, October 11, Edward Il Suk Song, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away. He was eighty-five years old. Mr. Song was born in Seoul, Korea, married Jung Yo Cha in 1963 and immigrated with his family to the United States in 1970.

Mr. Song and his wife started the first Korean-owned dry cleaners in Baltimore. Before retirement, they owned several dry cleaners in Baltimore and Pittsburgh, which helped them put all four of their children through college and graduate school.

Mr. Song was a great golfer and an even better storyteller. But what he was best at was being a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. For him, family was everything.

He is survived by his wife, Susanna Jung Yo Cha; their four children, Dr. James T. Song (TaeYeon Song); Steve Song (Lori Song); Dr. Heseung Song; Elise Song Kurlander (Scott Kurlander); and nine grandchildren, Katie and Audrey Song; Emily, Hannah, and McKenzie Song; Kendall, Sara, and Zachary Kurlander; and Parker Dae Kim.

The viewing and memorial will start at 10:00 am. at Church One (6200 North Charles Street, Towson), with Pastor Mike Donohue officiating, followed by a burial at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens (200 East Padonia Road, Timonium) and repast at the Kurlander Home (12202 Highgrove Court, Reisterstown).
