Della Virginia Clagg, 89, the wife of the late Cecil V. Clagg Jr., passed away on Sat Feb.5, 2022. Born on Aug. 23,1932 in Eccles, West Virginia to Henry Melvin Dalton and Ethel Herron. She was one of 8 children with only 1 sister Betty Lou (Dalton) married to Clifford Rose surviving. She grew up in Big Sandy, West Virginia. As a young child she was pulled out of school to help raise her siblings.
Della was going to church where she met the love of her life Cecil Vernon Clagg Jr. They were married in May 1951 and had 6 children, the late Kendell Lee Clagg, survived by his wife Kathleen, Peggy Denise married to William Shipley, Joyce Rene widow of Kim Collins,Teresa Gail married to Roscoe Henson Jr., Patricia Ann married to Jonathan Rogers and Jackie Vernon Clagg married to Danielle Barget-Clagg. Early on Della was a caregiver, she took care of her family. As they grew older she also took care of her mother, father and mother in law and then also took care of her husband.
After her children could take care of themselves she went to work as a sales clerk at Epstiens Department Store in the material department. She taught her daughters how to sew and crochet. She then went on to work at Murphy’s courtesy desk. Della and her love Vernon always kept their faith in the church and became charter members of Owings Mills Church of God, now known as the Harvest Church of God.
In addition to her 5 children and sister, Della is also survived by 20 grandchildren ,36 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great grandchildren. She loved all her babies and was called Mother, MomMaw and MeeMaw to all.
She loved going on trips to visit family or camping and fishing. Family came first as she loved all of us. She is flying high right now with the Lord and the love of her life Vernon their son Kendell and all that have gone before. REST EASY MOM WE ALL LOVE YOU AND KEEP WATCHING OVER US ALL.
The family will recieve friends at Eline Funeral Home, 11824 Reisterstown Road, Reisterstown, MD 21136, on Friday, February, 11, 2022 from 2-4 and 6-8 and on Saturday, February 12, 2022 from 12-1 pm, with a Funeral Service beginning at 1 pm.
