Obituary for Clayton "Ray" Moreland

Beloved Father and Husband Clayton Ray Moreland passed away in his home on January 31st, 2023.

Ray was born on September 21st, 1961 to Elizabeth and Clayton Moreland in Westminster, Mar-yland. After graduating from Westminster High School in 1979, he went on to join the Navy.

Following his military career he began truck driving. He loved being on the road and teaching CDL courses. It was during that time he met and fell in love with Sheri. They were married in 1991 and were with each other through all of life’s ups and downs.

Ray held many titles in his life from sailor to truck driver to instructor, but his favorite role was being a Father. He loved nothing more than spending time with his daughters and all of his grandchildren. He was the proudest Dad and Pap-Pap, full of love and joy.

He leaves behind his loving wife Cheryl (Sheri) Moreland; daughters Whitney Shelley and Kelsey (Wayne) Chenoweth; brothers; Curtis Moreland and Chad (Julie) Moreland; grandchildren Cameron Shelley, Jayden Moreland, Octaviah Millberry, Zyellah Millberry, Chandler Chenoweth, Crew Chenoweth, Loyale Williams; nieces and nephews Curtis Berry, Trista Moreland, Kody Moreland, Kayla Paulos, Lucy Moreland, and Paige Moreland; plus countless loving cousins, relatives and long-standing friends.

The family requests donations be made to Gamber Community Fire Company in honor of Ray’s father, a founding member and first Chief, or to the American Kidney Foundation. Links to charities are below.
