Obituary for Beatrice Arminta Priest (Williams)

Beatrice Arminta Priest, known as Polly by family and close friends. She was born into a large farm family in Blue Mountain, Mississippi. She got her nick name Polly, because when her mother was pregnant. A new doll was on the market, the “Polly Doll”. She became known as her Mother’s Polly Doll. The name followed through her life. She moved to Memphis, TN, where she worked for Ma Bell and attended college. She met Ernest A. Priest, a navy man, and married him when his duty was completed. She raiseda family as her husband was moved frequently by his company (IBM, which they jokingly called I’ve been Moved). The settled in Germantown Maryland where her daughters went to school and graduated. Once her daughters entered junior high, she took the retail industry by storm. She became the first female manager of the loading dock. One of her many employees was in a band, and offered her tickets to a local concert at the Naval Academy. She advised him to complete his college degree and not waste time on being in a band. Fortunately he didn’t take her advice, he is a member of Hootie and the Blowfish.

She stayed close to her brothers, sister and her husband family. Spending many family vacations with
extended family. As well as having family visit them in their Maryland home. Beatrice often spoke of a
train trip through Europe, she took with her husband, they visited several countries. She and her
husband also took month long tour of Australia, also visiting New Zealand and Jakarta, Indonesia. She
usually stayed West of the Mississippi, traveled to Alaska with one of her youngest daughter and her
friends.

She was an avid sports fan, especially football. She followed the Baltimore Colts (the Indianapolis Colts
only when P. Manning was the quarterback) and Washington Redskins. Joe Gibbs was her favorite
Redskin coach. Since she was Mississippi she followed any quarterback that came from Ole Miss or the
Mississippi/Louisiana region (Manning brothers, Favre, McNair).

After retirement, she eventually moved to the Baltimore area to live with one of her daughters. Where
she spent time watching wildlife and birds wonder through their yard. She survived a massive heart
attack, a debilitating stroke, but could not beat the aftermath of COVID-19.

Beatrice in pre-deceased by her former husband, Ernest “Ernie” Priest. She is survived by her daughters
Wanda-Faith Day, Melanie H. Priest, son-in-law Kenneth Day, multiple nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be at King Memorial Park, Windsor Mill, MD, December 28, 2020 at 10:00am.
