Obituary for Rose Theresa Sottile

Rose Theresa Sottile, 79, died June 27, 2019 with her family by her side in Towson, MD. A memorial service is scheduled for Tuesday at Sacred Heart Church in Glyndon, MD. She was born November 12, 1939, in Brooklyn, NY.

Her interests included family and classic movies. She devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver to family members.

She worked for the Maryland State Police until 1990. She retired as a State employee from the Maryland Disability Determination Services but enjoyed it so much that she returned as a part-time contractual employee for another 12 years. Rose was known to be feisty and determined to get the job done and expected the same from her peers. She never forgot the reason why they were employed. They were tasked to serve the public and she was passionate toward the accomplishment of that goal. In the words of one of her secretarial partners, “Rose was, without question, one of God’s special gifts to those of us who had her in our lives and called her our friend.”

Mrs. Sottile is survived by her sister, Lucille Fasano; 3 sons and their spouses, Anthony Sottile, John and Sharon Sottile, Russell and Cathy Sottile; and 9 grandchildren, Christopher, Ashley, Gabriella, Cassandra, Luca, Nino, Brittany, Matt and Joe; and 1 great-grandchild, Tristan.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Rosario (Russ) Sottile.
