Obituary for Truman Anson "Tru" Barnes Jr.

Truman Anson Barnes, Jr. 65, of Hampstead, MD passed away on June 23, 2019. Born July 30, 1953 in Kansas City, MO, he was the son of the late Carl and Helen (Masters) Johnson, and the devoted husband of Becky Ritterhouse.

Tru was a Medieval History buff. He was a skilled craftsman, creating chainmail and suits of armor as an active member of the Society of Creative Anachronism, Inc. He was a noted cook and could cater to a large crowds. Tru was a talented jewelry maker and calligrapher and enjoyed creating illuminated texts. His family and friends remember him as a "cheerleader" always encouraging those around him to try new things, and "make their own historyā€¯. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Tru is survived by his loving wife Becky Ritterhouse of Hampstead, MD; daughter, India Brinkerhoff of North Pole, AK; two sisters: Rita Barnes of Leavenworth, KS, Virginia Frantz of Leavenworth, KS; two brothers:: Raymond Barnes of Leavenworth, KS, Carl Johnson of Leavenworth, KS; uncle, Jerry Masters of St Louis, MO; two grandsons, Dakota Roderick (and wife, Julia) of Catonsville, MD, Brock Roderick of Salisbury, MD; granddaughter, Elizabeth Roderick of North Pole, AK and great-granddaughter, Aurora Roderick of Catonsville, MD.

A celebration of Truman's life will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2019 from 1:00pm to 7:00pm at the Manchester Volunteer Fire Department Activities Hall - 3297 York Street, Manchester, MD.
