Edith (Jane) Stacks, 85 of Parkville, died peacefully surrounded by family at her home at Oak Crest Village where she has resided for the past five years.
Born November 27, 1924, in Baltimore, Maryland and grew up in Hamilton, she graduated from Eastern High School in 1943 and enjoyed many reunions with her girlfriends. An accomplished administrative assistant, she retired after 25 years of service from Bendix Corporation. Her family was proud of her computer literacy and ability to remain current over time.
Ms. Stacks was preceded in death by her husband Roland P. “Smoke” Stacks whom she married on October 19, 1974. They had celebrated 27 years of marriage at the time of his death on August 19, 2002.
Surviving children include: Linda Carter of Baltimore, Maryland, Susan Pellegrino Nahrwold of Brooklyn, New York, Michael Pellegrino of Hagerstown, Maryland. In addition, Mr. Stacks’ children: Phillips Stacks Jr. of Hampstead, Maryland, Michelle Keown of Winter Haven, Florida and Sarah (Sally) Smithies of Rancho de Taos, New Mexico, multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Ms. Stacks was of Protestant faith and enjoyed singing in both church choirs and choruses over the years. She also enjoyed many activities offered at Oak Crest including several international trips and cruises to Ireland, Holland, Belgium, and a Mediterranean cruise with ports of call such as the Vatican, Great Pyramids, Holy Lands, and Istanbul. She also traveled to Alaska and cruised several American Rivers. She enjoyed karaoke night and mahjong board game with friends. Always smiling and full of life she will be missed by both family and friends.
Upon her request she was cremated.
A Celebration of Life will be held on April 25, 2010 at 2:00pm in the Chapel at Oak Crest followed by a Reception in the Garden Room. Friends and family are invited to attend.
