Eline Funeral Home Completes Month Long Food Drive for Crisis Center
Eline Funeral Home completed its month long food drive to benefit the Community Crisis Center of Reisterstown and help local families in need. Individuals and organizations from the Reisterstown, Owings Mills, & Glyndon areas donated food and money that was subsequently matched by Eline Funeral Home.
Eline Funeral Home manager Steven Jenkins came up with the idea. “With the economy the way it is, we thought this would be a great opportunity to give back to the community” said Mr. Jenkins. Owner Jeffrey Eline decided to match donations in an effort to drive interest.
For the entire month of March, people were invited to drop off non-perishable items at the funeral home. “We collected so much stuff that we had to take donations up in two separate trips throughout the month, so as to not inundate the center” said Mr. Eline. “People have been very generous. We should all be proud” he continued.
With collections and matching donation, the drive succeeded in delivering over 400 cans of vegetables, over 150 boxes of pasta, 48 boxes of cereal, just over 100 cans of soup and close to $500 in donations.
Many area organizations, including Glyndon Methodist Church, Har Sinai Congregation, Reisterstown Baptist Church, Tomorrow’s Future Learning & Development Center, Jerry DeBar Construction and Girl Scout Troup #4987 all pitched in to make this drive a success.
Eline Funeral Home is a five generation, family owned business that’s served area families since 1863.
