Karen J. Butcher, 74, of Hampstead, passed away after an extended illness, on Monday October 29, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family. Born December 27, 1943 in Welch, WV, she was the daughter of the late Allan "Red" and Nina (Yielding) Fuller. She grew up in Baltimore and was the beloved wife of Wayne M. Butcher, her loving and devoted husband of 55 years.

She had been an administrative assistant with the State Highway Administration prior to retirement, as well as a child care provider for many years.

Surviving in addition to her husband daughters, Loren Butcher-Benjamin and partner Deb LaGrave of Ortanna, PA, and Amy Breda of Ellicott City; son, Christopher Butcher and wife Cristine of Westminster; and sisters Harriet Rhodes and husband Frank and Barbara Fuller; grandsons, Matthew Breda, Dionino Breda and Taylor Butcher-Benjamin; nephew Jason Rhodes and niece Carrie Rhodes. Karen also has extended family in Georgia.

Karen loved children, making crafts, family gatherings, trips to the beach and spending time at home with her husband.

The family will receive friends at Eline Funeral Home, 934 S. Main St., Hampstead on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2018 from 3-5 & 7-9 p.m., where funeral services will be held on Friday, Nov. 2, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Gary Mills officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
