Life Story for Oliver E. "Pat" Patterson

Oliver E. "Pat" Patterson
Oliver Ely Patterson was born October 5, 1928 to the late Franklin and Hilda Patterson on a farm on Black Rock Road in Reisterstown, MD. He was the fifth of eight children. He was educated in Baltimore County public schools and joined the U.S. Army Reserves in 1951. He enjoyed a long career with Southern States as an oil and gas truck driver.

It was on a delivery that he met Mary Caillouet in Parkton, MD and they were married on June 26, 1965. Several years later they built a house on the Patterson farm property.

Oliver had a strong work ethic and enjoyed helping others. He inherited his mother's sense of humor and joked with people everywhere he went.

He enjoyed bowling and loved to go to Rehoboth Beach, DE with Mary every chance they got. They loved living in the country, sitting on the porch watching the wildlife. They had many beloved pet cats and dogs through the years.

After recent declining health, he passed away to be with the Lord on June 15, 2018.

Oliver, also known as Pat, will be missed by many family and friends for his jolly nature and big heart. He was caring and could be counted on to help others whenever needed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Lola Sellers, Mable Rosier and Cora Ruby and brother Preston Patterson. He leaves to mourn his wife of 52 years, Mary; sister, Catherine Simpers; and brothers, Howard and Leroy Patterson, plus a host of other family including nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Monday June 18 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at ELINE FUNERAL HOME, 934 South Main Street, Hampstead. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday June 19 at the funeral home with the Rev. Ron Gompf officiating. Interment will be in Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens in Timonium.
