Condolence: It is a sad time indeed when you lose a friend like Bill. He knew and loved his "stuff" and I remember him, with Miriam, coming to the early Staffordshire Figures Association meetings more than 20 years ago and sharing so much Knowledge with all of us.
I will so miss doing Shows with him and want to send lots of love to his family and friends who are so sad as am I.
RIP,Bill
and I pray you never run out of crab cakes!

Condolence From: Rev. Dr. Frank Trotter
Condolence: I discovered Bill’s antique business is a conversation with Miriam 30 years ago while I was pastor at Reisterstown United Methodist. He later sold me my first Staffordshire of John Wesley and my collection has grown since then. My late mentor, Rev. Dr. Carroll Yingling, got me interested in the Staffordshire Wesleys but what a wonderful surprise it was to discover a genuine authority in my own congregation.

I also had the privilege of teaching Bill and Miriam’s grandson, David, in Confirmation Class.

Many blessings and lots of love to the entire Shaeffer Family!

Frank

Condolence: I met Mr. Shaeffer at the York Antique Show more than 10 years ago, where he regularly set up to sell Staffordshire pottery. He was almost always sharing a nooth in the same location and greeted everyone with a kind smile.

As a newer collector - he offered me insight and wisdom from his many years of collecting and dealing.

Dressed impecably, he was a fixture on that first aisle of the Memorial Hall at the York Fair Ground and will be missed by those of us who enjoyed seeing him at each show. He had a sparkle in his eyes that brightened when something funny came to mind.

I am grateful I got to know him through a common interest in beautiful pottery. Well dobe, good and faithful servant. RIP.

Condolence: I read the obituaries nearly everyday now. I check on my friends and people I’ve known or known of over the years. One caught my eye this morning and has been on my mind all day. I see that David’s father passed away. David and I went to school together, we were in the same class through elementary school, I can’t remember us having classes together in junior high or high school. I can’t say that David and I were close friends. I don’t think that I have seen David since the day we graduated. He was probably the biggest kid in our elementary classes and I was probably the smallest. There were times that we rode the same school bus, I knew he lived on Waugh Avenue in Glyndon. Through the years, every time that I’ve been on Waugh Avenue, I’d say to myself, “There’s David’s house.” I can’t remember ever meeting David’s father. In elementary school we all knew David’s mother. Every time there was a party or celebration, David’s mother would always bring the largest can of Utz potato chips, the commercial size. David’s grandparent’s had an ice cream and candy store near the schools and everybody knew his grandparents. Even a few truck drivers got to meet David’s grandparents, usually in the middle of the night. So, to my old classmate, David Shaeffer, you are still in my memories and I hope your father rests in peace.
