Robert E.  Martin
Robert E. Martin, 69, of Manchester, passed away Thursday April 19, 2018 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Born May 2, 1948 in Upperco, he was the son of the late Robert C. and Catherine M. Abbott Martin. He was the husband of Cathy Martin, his wife of 50 years.

Mr. Martin worked for the Maryland State Highway Administration for 24 years, retiring as a project manager in 2017. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Hampstead Post 200 and the Loyal Order of Moose, Westminster Lodge #1381. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed cooking and was known as "The Chicken Man" for his famous fried chicken. "Pop" especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are son and daughter-in-law, Robert C. Martin and Brenda Abel of Manchester; daughter and son-in-law, Robin S. and Scot VanDerVoort of Reisterstown; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronald and Janice Martin of Reisterstown and Dennis and Melanie Martin of Manchester; sister, Sue Martin of Manchester; grandsons, Robert and Charles Martin and Bradyn VanDerVoort; and granddaughter, Macyn VanDerVoort. He is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Monday April 23 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at ELINE FUNERAL HOME, 934 South Main Street, Hampstead. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 24 at the funeral home with the Rev. Matthew Schenning officiating. Interment will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Arcadia.
