Joseph E. Schultz of Mechanicsburg, PA and formerly of Hampstead, MD passed on to life in Heaven on Saturday March 24, 2018 at the age of 90.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Vardella Mary (Thomas) Schultz; his son Gary and wife Linda (Keeney) Schultz; sister Luella; brother Arthur and wife Mary; grandsons Brent and wife Jill, Bradley and wife Tricia, and Brandon; three great grandchildren, Natasha, Luke, and Reagan; niece, Penny; nephews, Warren and Mark. He was predeceased by sister, Inez Woolston and brother, Melvin Schultz.

Joe was born July 26, 1927 just outside Hampstead, MD to N. Leroy and Gertrude (Tracey) Schultz and lived in the area until 2016. He attended Grace Bible Church of North Carroll and previously was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Upperco, MD. After graduating Sparks High School in 1944, he worked in farming and then in warehousing and shipping at Black & Decker in Hampstead. He was involved in various church activities and was devoted to his family and friends. Throughout his life he retained a love of farming and rural life. Joe spent his last year and a half of life at Messiah Lifeways in Mechanicsburg.

The family will receive friends Wednesday March 28, 2018 at ELINE FUNERAL HOME, 934 South Main Street, Hampstead, from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Gregory Breen will officiate. Interment will be in Grace United Methodist Cemetery, Upperco.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the aforementioned churches or River Valley Ranch.
