Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Barbara Picchio can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Obituary for Barbara Ann Picchio

Barbara Ann  Picchio
Barbara Ann Picchio, 71, Born April 11, 1946 in Scranton, PA.
An Educator for over twenty years, she began her teaching career at Holy Family School in Randallstown, MD teaching Religion and Art. She taught in the Baltimore County Adult Education, and it was there she received the Baltimore County Teacher of the Year Award. She went on to teach Reading and English at Catonsville Community College. She is a graduate of Notre Dame, Baltimore, MD and went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Education at Loyola University, Baltimore, MD.
Barbara loved to cook and bake and her hobby was collecting new recipes to try. She loved her IPad, especially connecting on Facebook with her cousins in Pennsylvania. Barbara was also a huge Ravens fan and never missed a game they played on television. She just loved to watch Ray Lewis when he was playing for them. He was her favorite Raven.
She died on February 3, 2018 from complications from Kidney Disease at The Dove House, Carroll County Hospice Center.
She is survived by her sister, Rose Ann Picchio. Her parents Victor and Grace Picchio preceded her in death. She is also survived by loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Sacred Heart Catholic Church – 65 Sacred Heart Ln, Glyndon, MD – on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. Entombment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Finksburg, MD. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Barbara’s name to: The Dove House – 292 Stoner Ave, Westminster, MD 21157.
